If you've got a Hilton stay coming up, check your Amex Offers tab right now. American Express is showing select cardholders a targeted offer worth up to 55,500 Hilton Honors bonus points, and it's one of the better ones we've seen this year for Hilton loyalists.

The offer: Spend $6,500 on eligible purchases and earn 18,500 Hilton Honors bonus points back. The best part is that it can be added and triggered up to three separate times within 90 days, which means a maximum payout of 55,500 points if you hit the spend threshold on all three.

Using our valuation of Hilton points at roughly 0.5 cents each, that top-tier bonus works out to about $277.50 in value. Even a single redemption gets you close to $92.50 for spend you might already be putting on the card.

We're also seeing smaller variations show up for some cardholders:

  • Spend $4,500, earn 13,500 points (up to 3 times, 40,500 points total)
  • Spend $1,000, earn 5,000 points (up to 3 times, 15,000 points total)

How to trigger it: This one only counts if you book directly through hilton.com, the Hilton Honors app, or by calling 800-HILTONS. Third-party booking sites won't qualify, so don't get caught out there.

Why it matters: Amex Offers are targeted, meaning you might see this on one card and not another, or not at all. Log into your account and check every eligible Amex card, then load the offer onto whichever one you're most likely to hit the spend threshold with. If you're holding the Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card, this stacks nicely with its existing resort credits and annual free night, making an already strong card even more useful for a trip you're already planning.

Bottom line: We wouldn't recommend manufacturing spend just to chase this bonus, but if you've got a Hilton stay on the calendar anyway, this is free value sitting in your account. Check your Amex Offers before you book, and don't leave points on the table.
